Life's fundamental Fact : Change

"CHANGE-THE LAW OF NATURE"

Life is full of twists and turns.Changes are inevitable part of life. They give us both happiness and sadness and we have a love-hate relationship with them.A person on getting a welcome surprise feels elated and happy while the same person getting a bad shock or a unfavaorable change in life laments & curses the situation. But,regardless of all the results and outcomes changes continue to governthe flow of our life.So is there no solution to this everchanging cycle? Yes there is and is called "Staying at 0".Let me illustrate this with an story.

Once in a far off village, there lived an old man by name Shunya baba(Yes,you read i right). He had no-one in his life except his son who was young but still unemployed. They possesed a sugarcan farm and the family thrived on the meagre income from that.Other people in the village used to feel sad for Shunya baba. But,Shunya baba was calm & composed and used to say,"This will also change."Once wild horses encountered his farm and ate his sugarcane crop.Seeing this, the son became very sad & felt angry. On narrating the whole incident to his father,Shunya baba simply said,"This will also change".

The change soon came thereafter when the horses stayed back at his farm. Then Shunya baba told his son to go and check whether the horses could be tamed. The horses were quite friendly and hence could be tamed easily. All including the son and the villagers were happy as Shunya baba now could thrive on the money gained by selling the horses but Shunya baba still thought to himself,"This will also change."Disaster struck when the son while taming a particularly wild horse fell and broke his leg permanently.Everybody was sad but still even in that situation Shunya baba was calm and only said," This will also change".Months passed and Shunya baba's country went to war.All the young ones from the villages were asked compulsorily to join the army, except Shunya baba's son because of his foot injury.Sadly, the country lost the war and all the young ones from the villages were either killed or captured by the enemy. Now,all the people felt sad but they took solace in the fact thet our Shunya baba's son was alive. They expressed their joy in front of him. But,Shunya baba inthat situation listened to all of them and was thinking and murmuring the same thing "This will also change."
This is how changes should be faced, staying at 0,not becoming affected by the situation but staying calm and composed. This helps in finding a solution for a problem or prepares oneself for the oncoming change. This does not mean one should not enjoy when in a happy situation or one should not be sad in case of sadness. It simply means one should not let one's mind get affected by the situation, which helps in facing the situation in a better way.The gita has a perfect shlok to help us to get out of this dillema:

"uddhared ätmanätmän
nätmänam avasädayet
ätmaiva hy ätmano bandhu
ätmaiva ripur ätmanah"

"One must deliver himself with the help of his mind, and not degrade himself.
The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul, and his enemy as well."

Hence a person's mind is both is enemy as well as his/her friend. It is upto him/her to decide whether to make it his best friend or his worst enemy.Hence implementation of staying at 0 has to be done by the person himself/herself.Acceptance of the fact that 'changes are the fundamental fact of life' is very important. It is always best to accept the situations as they are and try to ressurect efforts in order to improve them. This will help oneself in overcoming the change.Efforts are needed to be put by him/her only.Advisors can only guide and advise but it is the person himself who has to face the change.Always remain at 0 and never forget Shunya baba's advice,
"THIS WILL ALSO CHANGE"
